Integrated Statistics is looking for an Environmental Specialist to work in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) located in Sandy Hook, NJ.
This person will provide assistance in the delineation of Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) for diverse species. The incumbent will assist in literature searches, summarizing findings and drafting reports and presentations.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Conducting literature searches for relevant information across a variety of sources.
- Summarizing most important information in usable format.
- Drafting reports on findings.
- Recording and organizing the data collected.
- Preparing tables, graphs, and summary reports.
Required Qualifications
- Meticulous record-keeping and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in common software applications (e.g. Word, Access, Excel, web browsers, online research tools, etc.).
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fisheries, aquatic biology, or related field.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated technical/scientific writing skills.
- Experience in sustained projects involving reviewing both online and hardcopy literature.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to enter, organize, summarize, and document data collection.
- Understanding of the importance for fisheries of essential fish habitat.
The position is full-time, with an expected duration of 4-6 months. The
rate of pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is eligible for the benefits
described on the Integrated Statistics website.
